So, the business agent wants me to go mine and refine ore for her. She gives me a ship, but nothing to mine with.... Nor does it tell me how to mine from asteroids. This is ridiculous and frustrating... Kind of glad I'm still on the trial period, I'd be pissed if I paid for this crap. |

It wasn't a trading mission, it wanted me to go out and get the ore. Kind of stupid not to make the mining mission from the industrial agent a prerequisite for the business mission. |

I had to do the industrial career mission before I could mine the ore at all. It just doesn't make sense why it wouldn't tell me that I needed to do the other mission first. |

The defaul ship doesn't come with anything but a basic weapon.

And need I remind you this is supposed to be an extension to the tutorial? If a new player is confused, the devs did something wrong. I understand the the game isn't meant to be easy, but if a tutorial fails to teach the player how to play, what's the point of it in the first place? Leave your 'learn to play noob' insults in your head, please (especially in the new player's section of the forum). |

Sylvester Slake wrote:Just do a career agent that you are interested in, and do it until you get stuck, and then switch to another agent.. Chances are you will get the skill books, ships, and info you need to go back to the one you were previously stuck on and accomplish it.
I don't see why this would be the case in the first place, why there is the possibility of getting stuck in a tutorial. Either each of the career agents provide everything one needs to complete the missions or they should have clear prerequisites. |

No, I didn't.
As I've said before, keep your rudeness to yourself, I doubt it is welcome in the new players' area of the forum.
The tutorials were changed in the last patch, it is expected there would be problems. Pointing them out is the only way to get them fixed. |

Sylvester Slake wrote:your turning a little tiny detail into this huge game breaking deal. like wtf? People here have been more then helpful and all you can say is keep the rudeness to yourself?
I was merely pointing out a problem with the tutorial missions. The problem I had was solved, but I'd like to get the problem fixed so no one else gets confused.
I don't appreciate others telling me to 'pay attention better' or 'learn to play', which was the rudeness I was referring to, and as you weren't one of the people saying those things my comments were not directed at you. |

Perhaps the problem is I did everything up to the career missions right before the patch. One would think they'd be compatible, or at least restart the tutorial if it changed that much. |

ShahFluffers wrote:I brought up the mission log, read the exact wording of the mission itself, saw that there was no mention or specification on HOW I was supposed to get the ore, and proceeded to buy all the ore I needed from the market (which I was experimenting with at the time).
I don't think we're talking about the same mission... I tried buying the ore. The mission was you had to go start mining and bandits attacked, which you had to kill. They didn't spawn til you started mining. The mission objective was to kill the bandits and get the ore, which just buying the ore didn't do. Also going to the site didn't spawn the bandits, they spawned halfway through one tick of mining. |

Spathe Ne Boirelle wrote:Well you always have the option to petition your mission if your stuck. The only problem I can say about the tutorial is right before you need to manufacture items and if you don't have the industry skill...its not telling you in anyway unless you look at the BPC info page. But that can easily be done as if you try to manufacture it, it will tell you anyways.
Yeah, that was an oddity as well.
ShahFluffers wrote: Huh... they changed it then. I remember that one being part of the industrial tutorial.
Regardless... you should have still been able to connect the dots.
- The first ship you get in the game comes with a mining laser (which is clearly labelled as such).
I got no mining laser with the ship, nor with the mining frigate I was given.
I am past this part now, I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong so I can report the bug. |

Oraac Ensor wrote:This is a well known failing of that tutorial, CCP have been told about it many, many times and it's been petitioned over and over and over again, but still they do nothing about it.
The mission apparently dates from the time that every new player received a rookie ship equipped with civilian weapon and mining modules and wasn't changed when the pilot's licence training course was altered to provide only an empty rookie ship hull. The advice that you can do the tutorials in any order is totally untrue and misleading.
It's not exactly a bug, just incompetent game development, but by all means add your voice to the protest by filing a report.
That is... unsettling news, but at least it explains things. Thank you for the info. |
